Golf at VAFB, Bayonet and Black Horse

One thing we wanted to do oun our trip this year was to get a few rounds of golf in. We originally only planned to play twice, but with a open day on Thursday due to the track not opening, we played an additional day. Even though I played like crap, it was a total blast. As usual VAFB played great--forgot about all those trees :) The real highlight was on Wednesday and Thursday when we played the Bayonet and Black Horse course at the old Fort Ord. It is the best taken care of course I have ever played. The actual course was breathtaking with the rolling hills and elevated tee boxes. Had a bunch of left dog legs...doesn't help when I hit it to the right :) The foursome was Me, George, Tino and Mike. This was our first time playing with Mike...who, when asked if he would like to play golf when we were up there said, "sure, I'll play some golf" didn't mention that he was a 1 handicapper :) Dude, can play--we were even calling shots for him to hit and he did it everytime. Damn sandbagger--took all the money on the first day--then with some "adjusted" ruling Tino won the majority of the second day--He basically won it all on one hole--we pushed like 7 holes or something. That's all it takes! I have to say the biggest highlight of the golf outing was George, who just started playing and hits ball like my 5-year old, made his first birdie--find the pic where he looks very happy and giving his gangsta sign :) It was a par 3--5-iron (hybrid) to the green, 15 foot putt for birdie. He even par'd the whole before so he was actually 1 under for a second--didn't last :) On Thursday, the day ended with Fog rolling in and covering the course--I thought it was pretty cool--at that point I figured my ball was going right anyways :)

One last thing: Man, there are alot of trees out there :) It's tough when you come from AZ and can make up for your mistakes by hitting from the other fairways....not in Cali--it's all a forest man! I believe George called me "Lord of the Trees" :) Had a blast and Tino didn't even fall asleep in the cart or anything :)
